The good news of Jesus Christ

DRAFT — awaiting theological review.

God made you, and He is good

Everything that exists — including you — was made by God, for God (Genesis 1:1; Colossians 1:16). Every human being bears His image, which is why every human life is sacred, from the womb to the grave. He made you to know Him, and He is not distant: "In him we live and move and have our being" (Acts 17:28).

We have all sinned

We have all broken God's law — in what we have done and what we have failed to do. "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). Lies, lust, theft, hatred, the blood of the innocent: sin is not a mistake to shrug at but a debt before a holy Judge, and "the wages of sin is death" (Romans 6:23). A nation that has killed millions of its children cannot plead innocence — and neither can any one of us plead innocence of our own sins.

God gave His Son

Here is the heart of everything: "God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8). Jesus Christ, God the Son, lived the perfect life we have not lived and died the death our sins deserve. On the cross He bore the judgement of God in the place of sinners; blood and water flowed from His side (John 19:34) — atonement and cleansing, justice and mercy, in one sacrifice. On the third day He rose bodily from the dead. Death is beaten.

Repent and believe

Jesus' first public word was "Repent and believe the good news" (Mark 1:15). To repent is to turn: to agree with God about your sin, renounce it, and come to Him. To believe is to trust Christ alone — not your goodness, not your religion — for full forgiveness. "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved" (Romans 10:13). He will not turn you away (John 6:37).

After abortion: there is mercy for you

If you have had an abortion, arranged one, driven someone to the clinic, or stayed silent when you could have spoken — the blood of Jesus is enough for that too. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9). There are mothers and fathers in this movement who have been exactly where you are and found complete forgiveness in Christ. You are not disqualified from mercy; mercy is for the guilty, which is all of us.
