Street work
DRAFT — the legal section must be verified before launch.
Public witness is where abolition became real for most of us: honest conversations, literature, and prayer in the places where our neighbours actually are.
Before you go
- Go with your church's blessing if at all possible, and never alone — two or three is wisdom, not just company (Ecclesiastes 4:9–12).
- Get trained first: know the case and the common objections cold, and role-play hard conversations before you have them for real.
- Pray together before, during and after. This is spiritual work.
Staying within the law
- Safe access zones now operate around abortion clinics across the UK, criminalising most forms of presence and expression within them. Know the zone boundaries where you work and stay outside them.
- Public preaching and literature distribution remain lawful in public spaces, subject to public-order law. Be peaceable, block no highways, and comply with lawful police directions — then follow up in writing if you believe a direction was wrong.
- Never photograph or publicise identifiable women entering clinics. It is both wrong and disastrous.
- Record your interactions with officials where lawful; stay calm and courteous at all times.
The tone we insist on
We speak plainly about what abortion is, and we never scream at, shame, or chase anyone. The mother walking past you is not the enemy; she is the mission field — and often the second victim. Grace and truth travel together or not at all (John 1:14).
